I have always loved horses. My first horse was
an older Morgan mare purchased in 1962 with money that my little
sister and I had saved in our piggy banks for years. She cost
us $70. and lived a long, long time, always getting me grand
champions in 4-H!
From there, I owned more horses, and at one time, while I was in
high school, I owned 7 and it was a lot work to keep them all
ridden! I have owned morgans, quarterhorses, appaloosas,
paints, saddlebreds, and welsh ponies. Then was introduced to
the American Baskir Curly horses and in 1984 I bought my first
filly.
While not a beautiful breed, as many other breeds are, these
horses stole my heart! I found them to be so easy to train,
they have a sense of humor, they love obstacles, and many are
gaited. They are not spooky and tend not to bolt in face of
danger. They are sturdy and athletic, and for those with
allergies, they are proven to be hypoallergenic. Most of all
they love to GO! And they love their masters!! I had to sell my
horses when I got divorced in 1994. Last year, my daughter and
I found a curlie mare and filly in Texas and this has started us
back with our beloved breed. I bought Stag Creek Celeste at 8
months old. She is now a going on two and she will go to a
trainer in the spring.
