Most members went up on Thursday to extend the weekend. The first ride was for 9 AM on Friday morning. It was originally planned to be a 5 hour ride, but because of the heat it was shortened to 2-3 hours. Many riders also took a short ride Thursday evening.

 Friday evening was the Trail Course designed and judged by Cassie. It had a bridge, flag carry, figure 8 around trees, a gate, trot, stop, sidepass, and a walk over logs obstacle. Cassie actually ran the course herself on Buckshot and won. But since she is so fair she disqualified herself from the actual placings. That made Donna H. the winner. Cindy gave Cassie an award though too!  Friday dinner was the Famous Kessler Chicken with lots of yummy salads.

Saturday we had a great ride with only one spot that was a little steep. There were ponds along the way for the horses to drink and take a cooling dip. We had lunch at a park along the road.  It had tall cool grass for the horses to munch and huge big shade trees.  It was pretty warm but the little storm the night before had cooled things down to bearable.  Water spray bottles set on "mist" were a big hit as we rode along. Lunch was sub sandwiches and cool drinks.

There also were two ponds at the camp. We designated one pond for the horses and one for the people. Terry B had a little brown Walker that loved to swim! Many others swam their horses too. It was very refreshing!

Saturday night dinner was steak, baked potatoes, and salads.  We had our big bonfire afterwards.  Cindy presented all kinds of awards.  We also did some skits.  One group did the "Fiftieth Anniversary Mummy" skit.  The other group did the "Hazards of the West" skit.  Then we each stood up around the campfire and told our history of love for horses.  It was a wonderful evening.

On Sunday most everyone headed home early.
